What People Are Saying About Salzburg
The scenery is amazing! We had an excellent guide asking if we had any questions throughout the trip. He helped us all use the transportation and talked about Salzburg during the train ride. We learned a lot on his guided tour through the town. Then you get to spend 3 hours doing whatever you want away from the group. There is so much to see and do, next time I'll have to just stay a few days to do it all! Eating at the Fortress was the best decision. Amazing view for pictures!
Admittedly the weather was great when we were there but even so, the views are breathtaking both from the ground upwards and even better from the top of the fortress. Going up the fortress is a must both for the inside tour but especially the views across the city and Alps. Cathedral is also very impressive as is the Mozart museum - would recommend an hour and a half in the museum (Geburtshaus) as there is loads to read!! We also had a very good tour guide from Radius Tours who knew the place well and the history and so the walking tour element of the day was very good and he gave plenty of advice as to where to eat, what to see and included things which catered for a variety of tastes and interests. The city has retained its authentic look and feel without too much influence from multinationals which is another great appeal. Would warn it is a long day, the travel is about 2 hours each way and so this will be a full day of your holiday but it is well worth doing.
This tour combined expert naration from our guide Franz with ample time for my wife and I to explore on our own and visit the sights that most interested us. It was a good combination.
This was a fantastic way to experience Salzburg in one day. Lucia provided us with an excellent introduction to the city and we had over 3 hours to explore on our own. Salzburg is an incredible city and I highly recommend this tour.
On paper might seem like the prospect of a very long day but the opposite, well-organized, Sabina miraculously kept the group of c30 people together on the train and on the excellent walking tour of Salzburg. Plenty of time to stop and take in the sights on the tour (and to plan which to re-visit during our 2 hours free time), and very informative descriptions. The warm sunny weather also helped. Good atmosphere and chat among the multi-national group of visitors on the tour, helped by Sabina's good humour and funny stories.
