We absolutely loved Hallstat!! Such a beautiful town with so much history. We went in December of 2024 and had the prettiest snowfall and when the snow stopped the view of the town from the photo point was to die for. The guide Andy was so fun and very knowledgeable about Salzburg and Hallstatt. Would definitely recommend as a cheaper and easier option to see the town.

With regards to the entire journey, was speechless and we ran out of capacity in the phone. Full description

Embark on a half-day scenic tour through the Salzkammergut to Hallstatt. See the town of Hallstatt on a guided tour and explore at your own pace after. Admire the Mullbach waterfall and the Bone House. Start the trip from Salzburg with a drive through the famous Salzkammergut en route to Hallstatt, known as the Pearl of the Salzkammergut. The route will take you through a number of charming villages, as you listen to an introduction to Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut. If you wish to do the Hallstatt Skywalk, please make your own arrangements and also considering an hour timewise from your 2.5 hours stay in Hallstatt.   On arrival in Hallstatt, enjoy 2.5 hours of free time to take in the sights. Take a leisurely walk along the lake and marvel at how the houses above you seem to cling onto the mountainside. Pass by the Mullbach waterfall and visit the local museum. A must-see attraction is the Bone House behind the Catholic church, which will give you an interesting view into local family life (admission not included). You’ll then begin the return journey via Abtenau and Russbach to Gosau and admire the views of the Dachtsein mountains.

  • Please note that there will be NO time visiting the salt mine in Hallstatt, as the bus will leave earlier
  • If you wish to do the Skywalk, please make your own arrangements and allow 1 hour for this activity
  • The Bone House has seasonal opening hours
  • For disabled guests/ wheelchair users: except for the Salt Mines Tour and the Eagle's Nest Tour, all tours are wheelchair accessible. Your wheelchair must be foldable, and you will need to be able to get in and out of the coach or minivan by yourself (1-3 steps)
  • Please note those Hallstatt sights as listed are not part of our tour.
  • Therefore, any attraction to be arranged on spot also considering the opening time during off-season.

We had a nice experience overall and really enjoyed the tour to Hallstatt. However, I feel it could have been even better with a bit more information and engagement from our guide during the journey. It would have been helpful to hear more about the area we were driving through, such as interesting facts, historical context, or suggestions on what to look out for in Hallstatt once we arrived. Some tips or insights on the must-see spots in the village would have added extra value to the experience. That said, everything else about the trip was perfect. The transportation was comfortable, the timing worked out well, and Hallstatt itself was stunning—definitely worth the money. I’d recommend this trip, but adding a bit more commentary or guidance would really take it to the next level!
