Full description

Embark on a half-day scenic tour through the Salzkammergut to Hallstatt. See the town of Hallstatt on a guided tour and explore at your own pace after. Admire the Mullbach waterfall and the Bone House.

Start the trip from Salzburg with a drive through the famous Salzkammergut en route to Hallstatt, known as the Pearl of the Salzkammergut. The route will take you through a number of charming villages, as you listen to an introduction to Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut. If you wish to do the Hallstatt Skywalk, the guide will collect the money for the ticket on the bus.  On arrival in Hallstatt, you might begin your visit with a mountain train ride up to the entrance of the world’s oldest salt mines (though the tour does not visit the mine itself), where you can admire the views down onto Hallstatt.  In Hallstatt you will have 2.5 hours to take in the sights. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the lake and marvel at how the houses above you seem to cling onto the mountainside. Pass by the Mullbach waterfall and visit the local museum. A must-see attraction is the Bone House behind the Catholic church, which will give you an interesting view into local family life (admission not included). You’ll then begin the return journey via Abtenau and Russbach to Gosau, where you’ll see the Gosau Lake and admire the views of the Dachtsein mountains.

This was our favorite part of our three week Eurotrip!! Hallstatt is STUNNING and to see it in person is so special. Our tour guide, Max, was the best! So informative and related information to everyone on the bus in many different languages. The ride was easy and smooth with lovely sites to see. Max also made it super easy to buy tickets and guide us to the Skywalk - worth the extra $$. After the Skywalk you have plenty of time to explore the village, although, I left there deciding that I will be coming back in the future to get more of Hallstatt! Just a stunning beautiful place. Thanks Panorama Tours!

Lovely tour, really simplifies the trip into Hallstatt as we found it quite complicated to plan the transportation. Bus stopped us by Wolfgangsee Lake on the way to take some photos which we really enjoyed. My only comment would be that there wasn’t enough time in Hallstatt to squeeze in an activity. 2.5 hours was just enough to explore the grounds, take photos and grab a bite to eat. Certainly not enough to also do the Skyview & Salt mine activities so keep this in mind. If you’re just looking to visit and see some nice views this is certainly worth it. We really enjoyed listening to the tour guide, Wolfgang, on board. The bus left and arrived at Salzburg exactly on time so make sure to be punctual. Highly recommend!

This was such a great trip. Our guide, Wolfgang, was amazing and funny as well as extremely knowledgeable. Our driver Francis was great as well. Having reading reviews prior to booking this trip I opted out of taking the extra excursion to the platform overlooking Hallstatt because many had said there wasn’t enough time to do that and explore the town. However most of my group end up doing it and said they had plenty of time to do both so I wish I would have done it in hindsight. Overall I’d highly recommend.
