Things to do in Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon

Enjoy a scenic full-day tour of the picturesque Verdon, departing from Aix-en-Provence by air-conditioned minibus. Meet your guide at the Tourist Information Center of Aix, and set off on a lovely drive through the dramatic splendor of the Verdon. Cross the Valensole plateau, and stop by a local producer of the area. Head to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, famous for its earthenware workshops, and enjoy some free time for lunch on your own. Stop at Pont de Galetas to admire breathtaking views of the turquoise water of the verdon river and one of the typical villages aroud the Sainte Croix's lake.

I’m inviting you to spend a really sensational day. Probably one of the most beautiful you'll have in Provence. I'll take you to one of my favorite spots in Gorges du Verdon where I go with my family and friends. The best way to explore this unic place is to have a boat ride in the canyon, the biggest in all Europe. You'll drive your little private electric boat having a picnic with some local wines. You can jump to the water or just unwind admiring the nature (2 hours easy drive, very calm water). Then we'll stop on few lavender fields off the beaten path. If you have a chance, you'll be the only one strolling there and taking pictures. Their beauty is really indescribable, even after the blooming period! The next stop is the perched village Sainte-Croix with its incredible view of the Sainte Croix lake. Free time for a walk in the village or beach time by the lake. There is also a very nice factory boutique with high quality lavender products. *In case of bad weather, instead of the boat, I'll drive you to the charming Moustiers-Sainte-Marie village.

Start by crossing the Gorge Loup with a 40-meter-high waterfall while taking in the breathtaking turquoise green of the Verdon. Stop at La Castellane for spectacular views of the canyon. Head to the village of Moustiers Sainte Marie, nestled under a rocky cliff and surrounded by mountains. Enjoy free time to explore the rich history of ceramic artisans. Next, visit Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon and wander through the shops and boutiques. Buy yourself unforgettable souvenirs and admire the immense fields of lavender.

After your 2 hours ride, you'll have some local appetizers and rosé wine, we can have a game of pétanque if you're up to! Then, I'll drop you off at a nice restaurant, away from hustle and bustle of mass tourism : in a little perched village or in the middle of the nature. You'll have time to have a walk through the wines fields sourrounded by several massifs. We'll finish the day by visiting the ancien capital of Provence : Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume with its amazing basilica, Mary Magdalene relics and plenty of authentic boutiques.
