The building was amazing, and it was very cool to see the afternoon light through the colored windows. The promised audio guide did not work, and staff i can’t acted for questions was very rude. She turned away halfway answering my question and walked off. Very obviously not interested in talking to “stupid tourists”.

It was really fast track however no one was around really which I found strange. 12 years ago we didn't go in because of the massive waiting time so I was really impressed. And again 12 years ago there was a dress code, no shorts allowed and free shoulders so we packed everything to be able to cover up but no one bothered about it. I guess times changed. We also visited the museum which was quite interesting.

They say "no shorts" but shorts are fine. Half the people there were wearing shorts. We had packed long pants half way around the world for this one tour and could have easily left them at home. Our family of four did a tower and enjoyed it, but overall we felt like we could have passed on the whole thing. The outside is just as impressive and after being able to go inside so many beautiful churches in Rome for free, we felt like paying $130 for the four of us to go inside wasn't worth the time or money. It was beautiful and very grand but just not our cup of tea.
