Full description

Learn about the customs of different ethnic minority groups on a 2-day trek through the Muong Hoa Valley from Sa Pa. Spend the night at a Dzay homestay. Day 1: Sa Pa – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van (L, D) Start your 11-kilometer trek through the Muong Hoa Valley and meet the Black H'mong ethnic minority people in the village of Y Linh Ho. Get beautiful views of Fansipan mountain and the surrounding rice paddies, and look inside one of the typical wooden houses. Pass different ethnic minority settlements, such as Lao Chai on the trek to Ta Van village. Check into a homestay of the Dzay ethnic minority people for the night.  Day 2: Ta Van – Bamboo Forest – Giang Ta Chai – Sa Pa (B, L) Enjoy breakfast at the homestay before the start of your 8-kilometer trek along a dirt trail. Pass a small village of the H'mong people before reaching a beautiful bamboo forest. Take a break at a waterfall and cool off with a swim in the Muong Hoa River. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before driving back to Sa Pa.

A different experience. I didn't expect that much trekking but it was a good experience. Make sure you're in good physical condition before booking because Trekking path although not difficult, it can get exhausting going up n down the hills- if it has rained then paths are most likely slippery. Falling, at times is inevitable. But the views make it worth it. Our guide Lam, was a very good, there will be other ladies who will help you walk when the path gets treacherous- they are not part of the tour, but you can buy something from them for helping you out. believe me, going down the hills will most likely make you fall if you're not physically fit. Day 1 - 13 km, Day 2 - 7 km( I went in short path because of exhaustion, you can choose long path)

We had a good guide that showed us how the women in the villages make the hemp cloth, how they make batik, how they grind rice to remove the husk. She led us on a good tour route that was beautiful and scenic. I was a little disappointed in the homestay experience. It was basically just dorm style accommodations with no interaction with the family. Although the food was prepared by the family, it was not anything indigenous to the minority tribes. I would recommend the trip, but only the one night option. Also, be up front with the tribe women that are following your group if you don’t intend to purchase goods from them. That way, they can go with a group that might purchase from them.

A relaxing two days. First day, hike from Sapa town to three H’mong villages. There’s a lot of people pestering you to buy stuff which gets old fast. First day finished very early. Like 2:30/3:00 we were done for the day and left to our own devices at the homestay. Second day, we were up early, hikes to a waterfall in peace. No sales pitches. Much better. We were bussed back to Sa Pa by about 2pm.
