Full description

Benefit from pick-up at your hotel in Sa Pa, and then start your 10-kilometer trek through the beautiful valley. Admire the rice terraces hidden behind the morning mist as you follow a small trail to cross the Muong Hoa River. Continue past well-tended, terraced rice fields on your way to the village of Lao Chai, where a local Black Hmong ethnic group live. Hike to the village of Ta Van Giay and trek along the route of the Muong Hoa River to cross a small suspension bridge roughly 2 kilometers from the settlement. Discover a fascinating collection of ancient rock carvings that depict images of men, stilt houses and different decorative patterns. Enjoy lunch at a local house in the village before hiking through a bamboo forest and reaching the Red Dao ethnic minority village of Giang Ta Chai. Enjoy a short rest at a nearby waterfall before climbing uphill to the main road where the driver will be waiting for you to take you back to SaPa.

  • This activity is not suitable for disabled people and children under 6 years old
  • The tour ends at approximately 3:30 PM
  • Warm clothes are recommended from October to March
  • Bring trekking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellent

Our tour guide Lan was very knowledgable and friendly! We were very lucky that we had no rain has I could see how the track would be hard to complete if it was raining. Be prepared for your shoes to get muddy!

The tour was very nice and the Hotel ( Nomadtrails Boutique Sapa) which planed the Trip even offered us to take a shower - eventhoug we stayed at another Hotel. Next time i would stay at their Hotel. The Tour Guide was also very nice and helpful.

Our tour guide was vet knowledgeable and was great at answering any questions we had along the route. As other reviews have said, it can be difficult. We luckily had a dry day and couldn't imagine doing it in the rain as we could see how it could be slippy. It was a long day in the heat. There were some stops for shade along the way but not for very long. There was also 1 toilet stop. The children who joined us at the beginning were all too happy to help us with our footing. Our guide explained that they would offer to sell us things as they were raising money for school equipment. It is a beautiful way to explore the rice fields and get beautiful views of the mountain. I'm not the fittest person and mostly battled with the heat. I would recommend the tour as it is a wonderful opportunity to see the villages, the field and the mountains in a way that can't be seen from Sapa village.
