Talkeetna: Southside Explorer with Optional Glacier Landing

Explore Denali National Park from the air as you fly over the river systems of Talkeetna and across the Susitna Valley into an incredible landscape of icefalls, glaciers, and snowy peaks. Upon arrival at the unique, octagon-shaped Alaskan log cabin, check in at the office and listen to an up-to-the-minute weather briefing to prepare you for your trip. Take the opportunity to meet and chat with your knowledgeable guide for the journey, and if you’ve picked the optional glacier landing, get kitted out with all the necessary gear and glacier boots. Relax on the deck as you await your flight’s departure, then follow your pilot guide to the aircraft and listen to a short safety briefing. Board your single-engine, high-wing plane, where everyone gets a window seat to make the most of the views, as well as a personal headset to listen to your guide’s expert narration. Then it’s time to hit the skies for an awe-inspiring one-hour flight amongst the jagged peaks and glaciers on the southern side of the Alaska Range. It doesn’t matter which side of the plane you’re on, since every seat provides stunning, sprawling views across the landscape. Each flight is customized for the very best views according to the weather and includes a flyover of the Great Gorge, the Don Sheldon Amphitheater, and Ruth Glacier. With the addition of a glacier landing, the total duration of the tour becomes 1 hour and 30 minutes.

After the first date was cancelled due to weather, I was able to rebook for a new date without any problems. All the staff were very courteous and helpful. Great service. When I arrived on the new date, I was given a free upgrade to a flight with a glacier landing. The weather was great, Mt. Denali and Mt. Foraker and Mt. Hunter were shining in the sun. The glacier landing was a very special experience. The pilot explained a lot during the flight. There was no time pressure on the glacier. Everyone had the opportunity to enjoy the experience to the fullest and take lots of photos. Even if it is not a particularly cheap pleasure, it is a "must do" in Alaska. Experience of a lifetime! And K2 Aviation is highly recommended.

I cannot recommend this enough! Our pilot, Chad, was so knowledgeable and friendly. We had a smooth flight up through the Alaska Range and the weather cooperated, so we were able to land on a glacier, Ruth, at about 5,400ft elevation. Being up there was like being in another world. Absolutely memories of a lifetime.

Second experience, although the weather was slightly bad this time, the female pilot still flew very well. K2 flight is more suitable, 1:30, easy to catch

Pilot was amazing super knowledgeable and friendly. The view was amazing and the glacier landing was awesome. Would recommend to everyone

We had an amazing experience and the glacier landing was the highlight of our trip.
