Full description
This shore excursion is a must-do for nature and wildlife lovers. Starting from Port Chalmers, enjoy an informative and entertaining sightseeing tour of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula. You will visit the Otago University, Botanical Gardens, historic buildings, neo-gothic church architecture and cathedrals, stately homes, and the world’s steepest street - with plenty of great photo opportunities. Afterwards, head to the Royal Albatross Center for a guided tour of the albatross breeding sites. Here, there will be some time for lunch (own expense) before your tour commences. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to visit the world’s only mainland breeding colony of the magnificent Royal Albatross. Witness unique social behavior and breath-taking three meter long wingspans soaring overhead. The next stop will be Nature Wonders for a fully guided tour of a Yellow-eyed Penguin breeding colony in a remote location. See these incredible birds and their nests along with Fur Seals and their pups, little blue penguins, and a breeding colony of cormorants.
