Full description

Discover Korouoma, a 30-kilometer-long and 130-meter-deep canyon located southeast of Rovaniemi which offers breathtaking scenery all year round. In Winter, the waterfalls turn into fantastic ice formations that are well-known for ice-climbing.  First, get picked up by your guide from your accommodation in Rovaniemi and set off for the Korouoma Canyon nature reserve. Start the tour with a hike through the park, admiring spectacular scenery including cliffs, rapids, and waterfalls.

Keep your eyes sharp to observe an array of rare species that call the area home. Snowshoes are optional but may be useful if you need more confidence when hiking down the canyon or just want to enjoy some deep snow walks.

Then, have the chance to observe some of the most spectacular frozen waterfalls in Europe and enjoy the beauty of snowy nature. Warm up with a typical Finnish campfire snack around an open fire.

Watch as your guide shows you their fire-making skills. At the end of the 6-hour excursion, return to Rovaniemi where you will be dropped off at your hotel by around 4 PM.

We were with a small group. Wild About Lapland has the motto: The smaller the group, the bigger the experience! Never more than 8 people, because the vans can only accommodate a maximum of 8 people. Even though it costs more, I would always prefer this to a tour bus tour. We have had that three times (was not clearly indicated) and was always disappointing. You don't have that at Wild About Lapland. Our guide Tibor was also great. He paid attention to everyone. When I struggled the last part (climbing up 1.1 km) due to my injury, he stayed with me to help and advise me. Top! Our teenagers didn't really feel like going beforehand, because the description of the tour sounds a bit dull, but because the descent is very steep, you have to hold on to ropes, step through deep snow, on your buttocks on slippery ice to sliding down and of course having the countless photo shoots. In short, they also loved doing it! Have a great day!

Location of the organization in the heart of the city center. For us a short 5min walk, ideal! Warmly welcomed and escorted to changing room for warm overalls and shoes. With mini-van 8pax approx. 1 hour drive to nature park. Toilets on site super dirty and not pleasant (eg for changing clothes) Walk itself super fun! Lots of time to take pictures, beautiful surroundings, able to view waterfalls up close. As well as an adventurous route where you could often slide down ice slopes. At 1 km from the end a wood fire was provided to fry sausages and make hot dogs. (bread and mustard were provided). Also marshmallows and hot drink. Pleasant warming! Then up another steep incline before we got back to the van. Tired but satisfied the ride back, where we could change clothes again.

huge beautiful canyon and nature and the waterfalls are beautiful. The walk that is not too long and not too short. The walking is easy to do and offers a lot of variety. Lunch is in the middle of the forest and very cozy and delicious. Also good with younger children. Our youngest is 9 years old.
