Full description
Your special morning shuttle will depart from your hotel and head to Posio’s virgin forest area, 160 kilometers from Rovaniemi. Korouoma is a 1-million year old fracture valley in the bedrock, and at the center of the valley it forms a magnificent gorge that drops over 100 meters below its surrounding terrain. Thick snow accumulates in the trees of the forest making the forest appear completely dreamy and blurred. Amazing photos of the ice and snow can be taken absolutely everywhere. Professional guides will escort you into the forest. In the middle of your hike, your guide will make a bonfire for you and you can experience the traditional cuisine of the Arctic Circle. Korouoma is known for its magnificent frozen waterfalls that cover the tall cliffs in the winter. There are altogether 14 frozen waterfalls along the Korouoma hiking trail. Korouma is hands-down the best destination for ice climbing in Finland!

The guide Belen was great, super nice & motivated. Gave us the best Lapland BBQ within our 1 week stay. Very good information given. It was super organized, perfectly timed and very well coordinated. Enough time for photos etc. No stress. Just great. The hike is a must. Very great nature experience. The paths are very easy to walk on.

Overall we really enjoyed our experience from start to finish. Was quite a busy day we went on so would have preferred if it was a bit more quieter but the staff and guides we very attentive. You can choose if you want to use the company's overalls or wear your own gear. The journay was relaxing and the walk itself to the different waterfalls was really enjoyable and not difficult. The only hard bit of the journay was the end walking up the steep hill for 5 minutes. After the walk we stopped off and had a nice BBQ with warm Berry juice, sausages, reindeer sandwich and roasted marshmallows! I would recommend.

You travel for about an hour eastwards towards the Russian border and once you arrive at the park you go on the path in the woods for a walk of about two hours (round trip). Excellent guide, thoughtful and full of advice and information. Good transport by mini-van. After the walk barbecue with deer sausages, salmon soup and corn cobs. Beautiful atmosphere around the fire (also useful for warming up from - 16 ° of the beautiful sunny day). Compared to other fairly insignificant or too trivial excursions, this one is definitely worthwhile.
