Know before you go
- Open from 8:30 am daily, last admission for the shortest walk only at 3:30 pm (4:30 pm in January)
- Allow at least 2 hours visiting time as there are a variety of self-guided walks and hikes through the geothermal park ranging from 45 minutes to 4 hours
- Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult
- Suitable footwear and a degree of fitness is required for the Mt Haszard Trail
- Mountt Haszard Trail is steep and rough in places and isn’t suitable for children, strollers, or wheelchairs
- A courtesy shuttle regularly circles the valley back to the Waimangu Visitor Centre
- You can use the internal shuttle bus to transfer between bus stops in the Valley, reducing walking distances
- Please wear flat walking shoes and comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing, along with rain or sun protection as necessary
