Amazing experience, our tour host was very fun and knowledgeable and made everyone in a room of 100-150 people feel very included. Activities/walks/the show/the dinner was spaced out nicely, 3 hours went fast! The show from the Māori tribe was informative and gave you chills at times! The buffet was incredible, so much food to choose from, you can eat as much as you like. We went up 2-3 times and there was plenty for everyone. Don’t skip dessert either!! Highly recommend the whole night, we left with full bellies and lots of knowledge in our heads about the people and land around us. Don’t hesitate to book, worth the money!

Full description

Enter a Maori village in a natural bush setting and learn about their customs during an immersive cultural experience. Following pickup from your Rotorua accommodation, if option booked, get a warm meet and greet from a beautiful Maori maidens. Learn the guidelines to enter the sacred site and select a chief from your group to represent those visiting the village.

See warriors in traditional dress paddle an ancient warrior canoe down the Wai-o-whiro stream and marvel at glow worms in their natural habitat. Be captivated by the songs and dances of an entertaining concert, complete with the spine-tingling haka war dance. Watch as the hangi feast is removed from the earth-cooked oven, explore the art of ta moko (tattoo) and more. 

Feast on a hot selection of succulent meats and poultry, vegetables and fresh salads, topped off with tempting desserts.

Know before you go

  • Wheelchair accessibility is limited for the 'bush walk' - exit into the forest is via stairs. Viewing of the waka (canoe) is from a platform and you can go a short distance into the forest to view the old pā (village) and see the sacred spring below the forest. Unfortunately, you will not see the glow worms. (Note: there is some uneven surfaces).
  • It is recommended you wear flat walking shoes and comfortable clothes, including a jacket during the winter months, we encourage you dress for the weather
