What to Expect
Follow in the footsteps of popes, Roman emperors and gladiators on a 4-hour private walking tour of Rome and learn about life in the imperial city.

Start at the Flavian Amphitheatre, better known as the Colosseum. Once able to seat up to 50,000 spectators, work on the immense theater began in 72 AD but wasn’t completed until 8 years later. Providing wild spectacles between man and beast, it was the most impressive of all the Roman arenas.

Walk through the remains of the Roman Forum, where Romans spent time praying, trading, conversing with fortune tellers, electing their leaders, and even playing chess. Stroll from the Circus Maximus to Palatine Hill to see where Romulus and Remus were found by a she-wolf, and so began the story of Rome.

See the open air Theatre of Marcellus, built in the dying days of the Roman Empire. Admire the Bocca della Verità in the portico of the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, and the Temples of Portunus and Hercules.

Learn where Roman commoners used to live, and where the patricians built their homes on the hills of Rome. Finally, head to the Baths of Caracalla, the 2nd largest Roman thermae, where citizens gathered for their public bathing rituals.
