Know before you go

  • Due to ongoing COVID-19 preventative measures, the passage from the Vatican Museums to the St. Peter's Basilica is closed. The tour will include a 3-hour visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel instead of St. Peter's.
  • The Basilica is not accessible until further notice
  • St. Peter's is closed during the following times: Wednesdays: 8:00 AM -12:00 PM, December 24 and 31.
  • During these times the tour will visit other parts of the museums.
  • The Vatican can get very crowded all year round. June, July and August are particularly busy as they are high-season months.
  •   All visitors must pass through airport-style security. During high season the wait at security may be up to 30 minutes.
  • On rare occasions, St. Peter's Basilica closes without notice. In this case, the tour will include a 3-hour visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel instead of St. Peter's. The tour operator will not offer refunds.

The guided tour is a must do experience, all these art pieces that are included in the museums should be explained by an experienced guide that will make the day better for you. Our guide Antonio was a very nice person, funny, kind and experienced! I would fully recommend to have a guided tour with him.

The visit is very nice, but we didn't go to the Etruscan or the Egyptian rooms, which in my opinion are much more important and interesting than maps. We stayed in the map room for so long that by the time we got to the Sistine Chapel, I was already exhausted from so much unnecessary information. Objectivity was lacking. The guide left us in the middle of the way… she just indicated that it was always to the right to reach the objective of the tour. Another thing… more than 20 minutes in a headache-inducing sun listening to information about the Sistine Chapel that we would only see 3 hours later, without a guide!

Spent a lot of time outside the museum hearing about the Sistine chapel. The Tour guide was only with us during the Museum so told us all about the Chapel at the start of our tour. There are many other galleries to look at on the way to the chapel and a leaflet or information on that would have been helpful. There were paintings by Miro and Francis Bacon which could easily have been missed.
