Overview
Discover the treasures of Rome and the Vatican on a comprehensive 6-hour walking tour. Your guide will take you to see stunning Renaissance and Baroque monuments, and you’ll enjoy skip-the-line access at the Coliseum and at the Vatican Museums.
What to Expect
The 6.5-hour tour begins in the morning with a visit to the Coliseum before the crowds arrive. You’ll skip any lines waiting to enter, and head in to enjoy this building almost alone.

Next you’ll go through the Roman Forum site, following the route of the Sacred Way, along which successful generals and emperors walked, as your guide explains the history and importance of your surroundings.

From here you will continue on to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, and see the site of Julius Caesar's assassination. After stopping for lunch in the most relaxing place in Rome, you’ll take a short taxi ride to the Vatican, crossing the Tiber River, with views of Castel Sant’Angelo along the way.

At the Vatican, you’ll enjoy priority access to the Vatican museums, skipping the long lines waiting to enter. Inside, your local guide, who is an expert in art history, will introduce you to masterpieces of Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque art and the sculptures of ancient Rome, before leading you to the awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel.

In the Sistine Chapel, you’ll receive valuable expert insight into the paintings of Michelangelo that adorn the walls and ceiling. Your guide will explain the history of the period, and the difficulties encountered by the patron, Pope Julius II and by the artist, Michelangelo.

Leaving the Sistine Chapel, you’ll enter St. Peter’s Basilica, once again without waiting in line! Standing beneath Michelangelo's great dome, you cannot help but feel somewhat humbled by the expansive surroundings.

The Basilica features several chapels, and numerous statues and mosaic works. Your guide will point out the most important, and leave you with time to look around by yourself. The Pieta, one of Michelangelo's most well-known religious sculptures, is among the highlights of this part of your visit.
