We were lucky to have a great tour guide, who spoke perfect English and knew a lot about the Basilica. Honestly, I was thinking that guided tour is waste of money until I completed the tour. Without this you are just walking around another church and miss out on 99% of interesting facts about it. Definitely a must if you are visiting the Basilica

Great tour and great guide. At the end of the tour you have the chance to climb up to the top of the Basilica. If you are a bit claustrophobic, I do recommend you do the second portion of the climb since the first portion can be done by elevator. On the second portion of the climb you have to walk through really narrow passages. You also have the chance to visit the tombs of previous popes. Our tour guide spoke really god English and was very thorough. Totally worth it.

The basilica is magnificent and huge! We were really impressed by the size of it and the immense number of historical artefacts that are stored inside. The tour guide seemed to have some throat issue during the duration of our guided tour, and we were not able to understand him that well at times.
