  • Taste at least seven wines, and learn to recognize their special characteristics
  • Enjoy the delicacies of Italian cuisine in a specially selected restaurant
Explore the history and evolution of wine on a 3.5-hour small-group evening tour through Rome. Taste over seven different wines, and finish with a traditional Italian dinner at a beautiful restaurant in the heart of Rome. Buon Appetito!
What to Expect
Begin your 3.5-hour small group tour in the elegant square of Piazza Farnese. At the first enoteca, or wine repository, you'll sit down with a glass of Prosecco to discuss the origins of wine, its expansion with the Roman Empire and its survival throughout the Middle Ages. Here you'll also learn how Prosecco came to be, exploring the difference between sparkling wines while enjoying a glass (or two) for your aperitivo. This semi-private tour is capped at 6 people for an intimate experience with generous tastings.

Continue your stroll through Rome's streets to the second locale. Here, you'll transition from sparkling wine to white wine. As you taste the local white wines with your group, discuss their characteristics and how they are best explored. You'll also be treated to various cured meats and cheeses while discovering the basics of food pairings.

Your last stop will be a beautiful restaurant chosen for its sophistical selection of red wine and cuisine. Here, sit down together to enjoy a meal in the traditional Italian style, while continuing the discussion of the evolution of wine to modern culture. Explore the characteristics important in the selection of wine for various events and menus, exploring when to opt for the house wine and when to splurge for that special bottle.
