I guess the price you pay is just to skip the line and to not feel so lost in the beginning since that is all our guide did for us. He got us in, showed us the way, gave us a map and said we were then on our own. Without him, we probably would have waited hours to get in so, I was ok with it. I don’t think I would have needed this if I had bought my tickets through the official website with much more time in advance.

Tour guides were on time and organised but only brought us in the door. They did show us the map however which was helpful. If you want a tour look carefully at the descriptions, but it was great to skip the queue. Overall, I was happy with the experience as I didn't want a tour.

We got into the museum quickly, avoiding the queues. We were given a short overview of where things were in the museum and a map. We were a bit overwhelmed with the size of the museum and ended up buying an audio guide. We didn't have the pizza option. We didn't go in St Peter's basilica afterwards due to the queues. In hindsight I would have bought a tour which included this.
