After seeing the St. Peter's and St. Paul's, we enjoyed this more modest basilica. It had far fewer people yet gave us some great insights about Roman and Church history. This was a great way to experience what our guide called the historical "lasagna" that is Rome. It's a must-see for those with an archeological or historical bent.

Wonderful tour of San Clemente and all the historical layers underneath. Tara was an excellent guide. Was able to converse in both English and Spanish. She let us know she actually knows 5 languages. Her knowledge and passion for history and specifically for the treasures of Rome made for an insightful and engaging hour. So glad we decided to do this.

A real insider tip. If you want to know how Rome was built, you have to book this tour. Tanja was very competent and explained everything easily and understandably. If you want to see more of Rome and want to understand Rome, you should not (only) limit yourself to the main attractions but book this tour! Really great!
