What to Expect
Discover Rome through the characters, plot lines, and locations of the award-winning movie, “La Grande Belleza” ("The Great Beauty"), acclaimed director Paolo Sorrentino’s love letter to the city.
Traveling by bike, you will ride down narrow alleys, enjoy panoramic views, and experience Rome's beauty at its most melancholic. The route was inspired by the main character, Jep Gambardella, and his poignant ideas of the concept of beauty.
Start with a visit to the Acqua Paola Fountain and San Pietro in Montorio on Gianicolo Hill. Continue to the historic heart of the city and the palaces and fountains of Piazza Navona, built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian. Next, go to the Trevi Fountain, and throw a coin into the water to ensure you will one day return to Rome.
After seeing the Palazzo Barberini and Colosseum, ascend to the top of Aventine Hill for a stunning vista of St. Peter's Basilica through the keyhole of the Villa del Priorato dei Cavalieri di Malta’s doors.
