Full description
Try out authentic delicacies as you immerse yourself in the local culture of Rome on a small-group walking tour. Taste unmissable Roman foods such as pizza from a family-run establishment, Supplì (fried mozzarella rice balls) and typical seasonal dishes from Rome’s Jewish Quarter. Meet in Piazza del Biscione before whetting your appetite at a local charcuterie at your first stop. Sample some typical Italian cured meats and some local wine there before heading off to try Rome's well-known tasty street food, Supplì. Your guide will fill you in on these rice delicacies' 19th-century beginnings and how they earned their name. Next, taste some classic Roman pizza and Menabrea beer at family-run Roscioli, an establishment run by the founder’s grandchildren. After this you’ll be heading to the Roman Ghetto, Rome’s old Jewish Quarter. Here, sample traditional zucchini flower fritters or carciofi alla giudìa (deep-fried artichokes), depending on what is in season at the time. Finish up the tour with a delicious artisanal gelato at Punto Gelato near Largo di Torre Argentina, the site of four ancient Roman Temples and Pompey’s Theater. Savor the unique northern Italian flavors at a gelateria that featured in Gambero Rosso’s Top 10 list of the best gelato in Rome.  Choose from either a private experience just for your group, or a small-group experience with no more than 14 people. Benefit from personalized insider tips about what to do next in Rome city center after the tour has finished.

Great way to enjoy eating local food, learning about the culture, and meeting people from all over the world. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the food and made us feel welcome. I felt though, that the explanations were at times redundant. I would have enjoyed it more if the group was more engaged in conversation. I would definitely recommend this activity to travelers who want to learn more about the culture and enjoy the experience.

So good and highly recommended. Our guide, Elisabeth, was very knowledgeable not just about the food but about Rome and gave some helpful recommendations. She also made us very welcome and comfortable throughout the tour. In this tour, you get to experience a variety of authentic Roman street foods and they all tasted delicious and from the top suppliers. Unforgettable!

I went with my husband and another couple. GTG was easy to find. Our group of 12 all seemed to enjoy our tour. We had 4 different stops for salami and wine; pizza and beer from a bakery(Forno); supli(rice balls); fried artichoke in the Jewish quarter; and finally, gelato! Our tour started at 5:15, and not hungry for dinner after. Our guide enjoyed her job and really knew her Roman history. Highly recommend this tour.
