I'm so glad we booked this tour - I thought we might want more time to wander round on our own after but went with the tour to make transport etc easier and Elisa did a great job of showing us the main places and explaining what life would have been like there. The pizza was lovely too! (They did one without cheese for my husband and you could have also chosen salad or lasagna).

Pompeii is very impressive, the trip there is worth it. We were picked up in Rome, were a group of 6 people. After about 3.5 hours (with a short break at a service area) we arrived at about 11.00. The driver was not in a hurry as there were other drivers on the way to Pompeii and they all meet there around 11:00 a.m. to hand the tourists over to the guides at the same time. Once there, we were brought to our guides (divided according to the language booked). Guided tour of Pompeii approx. 2 hours. Seen and experienced a lot of interesting things. After that, lunch on site with all the other tourists who had booked a guided tour with food. Spaghetti Napoli or Pizza Margherita and a drink. Never eaten such a bad pizza, it wasn't baked through... too bad. Then picked up again as scheduled at around 2:15 p.m. Driven towards Rome without stopping, that was okay with everyone. Back in Rome at around 4:45 p.m., after 2.5 hours… it would also be faster.

A great tour guide and interesting stories of life and the tragic volcanic deaths in Pompeii. It is a long drive to and from - 2 to 2.5 hrs each way - so be ready for that. You meet the tour guide at the site. So it is a quiet ride with just the driver who does not speak at all to and from the site.
