On this guided food tour a professional chef will take you to a market, delicatessen, pizzeria, gelateria, and Sicilian bakery. Taste your way through Rome at spots loved by locals, and learn about the history of Italy’s cuisine and its iconic creations.
What to Expect
Join this culinary experience to discover some of Rome’s best delicacies that you won’t find back home. Follow your expert chef on a 3-hour small-group walking tour away from the tourist crowds and discover the family-run gems that have been feeding locals for generations.
During your walk you’ll learn about the real history of Italy’s most famous culinary inventions, including pizza and gelato.
Your chef will start the tour at one of Rome’s biggest food markets, the Mercato Trionfale, where he’ll show you how to select the best seasonal, local products.
At your next stop, all you have to do is follow your nose as your chef opens the door at Gastronomia Simonetti, one of Rome’s oldest delicatessens. Treat your taste buds to some of the best local cheese, buffalo mozzarella, ham, and salami.
Continue on to Pizzeria ai Gracchi, a place only the locals know about! Enjoy tasting their pizza by the slice with different toppings, and the delicious supplì (fried rice balls with bits of mozzarella).
A food tour wouldn’t be complete without dessert so your chef will take you to Gelateria dei Gracchi for the best artisan ice cream in Rome.
There’s still one final stop in store, at Gelateria dei Gracchi, a Sicilian bakery, where you’ll be able to taste some of Sicily’s best loved desserts.
