Full description
Welcome to the world’s first museum! The Empire Roman Museum has a fascinating collection of art and artifacts, all of which tell different stories of the fascinating history of Rome. In 1734, Pope Clementine XII decided to make a significant collection of artwork and ancient sculptures permanently accessible to the people of Rome. With this magnanimous act, he created the world's first museum, located on top of one of the Seven Hills of Rome. Overlooking the Ancient Roman Forum, it is simply a melting pot of history. You can see the famous she-wolf sculpture featuring Rome's founders Romulus and Remus, and see a treasure chest of items telling the story of Rome, the ancient Caput Mundi.

A museum where you can find paintings and sculptures including the one with romus and romulus. The ceiling paintings are just magnificent. To do absolutely. You have to book before and just small problem there is no VIP entrance or guide you have to go to the tourist office down there and queue afterwards. On the other hand at the tourist office he shows us a very interesting film with all the monuments as they were at the time and it is magnificent.

Nice museum to spend half a day on. Empire Roman Museum with hosted entry was something you should take a closer look at. The museum is called the Empire Roman Museum for international tourists, but in Italian it is the Musei Capitolini. We had to request the tickets booked via GET YOUR GUIDE.COM at the tourist information point: Touristation Piazza Venezia. As a result, we first had to have our purchased tickets converted into valid entrance tickets from the queue. Cumbersome, but you did get to see a very nice video about what Rome used to look like. The tickets we got at this tourist point were certainly valid and scannable, but the museum staff looked at the tickets in amazement. As if they had never seen it before. Once inside you had to drop off your bag and put it in a plastic bag and then put it in a locker. The plastic bag I did not understand, pity plastic waste.

The tickets have to be redeemed in an agency, where you can see a wonderful animation about a reconstruction of ancient Rome in advance. That was really impressive, you should definitely take your time, it is also included in the entrance fee. In the museums you have to put your bag in a plastic bag and lock it up, the staff there were very friendly and helpful. The museum itself is a stunner.
