100% the right time to do it. Our tour guide from the tour operator was lovely. Brill to get a bit of information before heading in. On the night the organizing of the groups was poor and slow. This caused a delay so our tour inside in the colosseum was rushed because we were late. Not due to any participant showing up but because of the organizer. This was disappointing as the second tour guide who works for the colosseum had to rush through the tour. I’m sure it was a once off rather than every night but was definitely a little disappointing.

Your guides were very knowledgable and somewhat personable given the circumstances of this type of tour. Going at night is a great alternative to the huge crowds that dominate the surrounding area throughout the day. So much history to soak in and both guides were ready with enough back-pocket information to go beyond what is commonly known. I do wish it included access above the floor level.

Oh my goodness! Seeing the Colosseum at night was everything and more. The lighting at the underground was stunning. The story telling about history of the place was engaging. They told us about the architecture, gladiators, the fights and the new improvement done to the catacombs. The pulley system recreated to show how the animals were moved into the area a during fights. You really se everything with a different light. And the weather was much cooler at night. BONUS! Absolutely recommend this night tour.
