Full description

Discover unseen facets of the Colosseum. Access the arena floor through the gladiators’ gate and imagine their experience stepping out under the gaze of thousands of noisy spectators.

From the arena, look down into the dungeons where the gladiators prepared themselves beforehand and where wild animals were kept. Find the remains of public buildings, temples, the sacred dwelling of the Vestal Virgins, and more in the Forum - the political, social, and religious core of the city.

Learn stories of the political dramas that played out and the lives of people who lived 2,000+ years ago. Finally, head to Palatine Hill, where Romulus chose to found his new city. It became home to the rich and powerful during the Republic. The remains of some of their palaces remain visible today.

The actual tour was great! Our guide, Federico, was knowledgeable, friendly and adept at navigating through huge crowds of tourists! The meeting at the beginning was disorganized and chaotic. So many people pushing to get to the rep who was giving out the group stickers! Someone should have been helping her and having people form lines!

The tour is highly recommended! As can be seen from the description, the tour consists of three parts. For us, the Colosseum was the most impressive - you have to see that! The Palatine and the Roman Forum were also very interesting, as our guide made them visually imaginable with a lot of information (without a guide it would either be a pile of old stones or a lot of research effort). The time (3 hours) was perfect for us, it shouldn't have been longer due to the heat.

Angela did the tour in German and took us first through the Colosseum, then up the Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. Tour lasted 3 hours with 11 participants. Meeting went smoothly at the Arch of Constantine. The explanations were always easy to understand through the headphones. Angela was very engaging and had some materials with her with pictures and drawings to illustrate her explanations. The tour can be highly recommended.
