Covid-19 Update

Due to health and safety regulations, this itinerary may change. See Know before you go for the latest updates.

Make your way to the Pantheon to explore the best-preserved monument of ancient Rome. Collect your audio guide at the desk inside the Pantheon to begin learning about its fascinating history. Make use of 15 listening points and a map to locate points of interest inside the basilica. Learn the history of the building and how it later came to be used a church and a mausoleum. The Pantheon, built between 25 and 27 B.C., is the only ancient Roman building that has remained nearly intact through the centuries. Dedicated to all the gods of Pagan Rome, the temple was built by the Emperor Hadrian on the site of an earlier temple commissioned by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Augustus. Classified as a temple, the original use of the Pantheon and how people worshipped there is unknown as the structure is different from other traditional Roman temples, such as the Roman Forum.

This was an entry ticket with an audio tour. In mid-May the entry line didn't take too long. Go at your own pace, but overall a short tour. Once inside, walk to the left side of the room to pickup audio equipment from the desk. Trade ID for equipment. I booked the ticket one day prior but didn't download the voucher/ticket until arriving - poor reception - advise to download before leaving hotel WiFi. Audio guides are the way to go when visiting these beautiful buildings.

The guidance from Getyourguide was very punctual and easy to folllow. Tried using a competing service first but their page kept crashing… We got into Pantheon quicker than expected. And the experience was great. Audio tour clips were appropriately portioned according to our expectations. All in all a very good experience.

This was great! I would really really recommend just getting an audio tour of the pantheon because it’s pretty much on one level under the dome so you can listen to the audio guide while walking around at your own pace rather than hurriedly following a live guide. You can also repeat things in the audio guide if you missed them the first time, which is honestly very convenient. This is one place where you CAN do the tour by yourself, so it’s not worth it to get a live guide tour here.
