Absolutely incredible day - totally worth the money and more. Our tour guide Laura was so lovely and did an amazing job at giving us information while also keeping us entertained. Our driver, Gianni, was also a pro at navigating the tiny, windy roads up Vesuvius which I would not want to do! It’s a long day, yes, but it has to be for what you’re getting. The bus journey was comfortable with air conditioning. Pompeii was incredible and while it is only a brief whistle-stop tour of the city, it is more than enough to see the important bits. Lunch was lovely, half-way up Vesuvius with a free three-course authentic Italian meal, and finally Vesuvius (and the optional hike to the crater which I think is a must!) was well, it left us speechless. Plenty of time in each of the stops to explore and purchase souvenirs. Finally, we paid a visit to an incredible Vesuvius distillery for some free tasting. Incredible day. An absolute must! Thank you Laura, Gianni, and Fransisco :D
Excellent excursion, which was the highlight of our week's stay in Rome with our teenagers. Angela was fantastic - easygoing, knowledgable and witty. Despite the long hours of driving to Pompei and back to Rome the time flew by without us noticing. We had an excellent guide in Pompei (Elena), who roamed us through the streets and main curiosities of the city, followed by a lunch (traditional Naples pizza, yummy, and a lemon cake) and a climb to the crater of Vesuvius. Despite the fact that nobody accompanied at Vesivuis (the offer included an walk with a geologist), we loved that we could explore the area and enjoy the climb at out rhythm. Angela filled us in about everything we needed to know prior to the climb and afterwards. All in all, a great day!

Know before you go
- The hike up to the crater of Vesuvius is optional and requires a good level of general fitness to complete. The hike is uphill at a 14-degree angle and 20 minutes long (about 1 mile). The hike is prevalently on soft ground, and adequate footwear is recommended. For those who prefer a more leisurely experience, you can instead choose to enjoy a scenic and informative walking tour led by an expert geologist at Vesuvius.
- In rare cases of inclement weather or strikes, the crater of Vesuvius may be closed to visitors and an alternative visit to the city of Positano will be included instead where you will get free time to explore the city. Please note that the Lunch stop will not be included when going to Positano.
- Please be advised that in the case of events beyond our control, we may need to adjust our itinerary to ensure the safety, quality, and satisfaction of your travel experience.
