Full description

Travel from Rome to Pompeii in an air-conditioned private bus, accompanied by an archaeologist guide. Benefit from skip-the-line entry and enjoy a guided tour of the ancient city. Throughout the ruins, come across a death cast, a plaster recreation of an unfortunate citizen preserved by the superheated volcanic ash. After visiting Pompeii, drive up the slope of Mt. Vesuvius, (from April to mid-November), one of Europe’s few active volcanoes located in the Vesuvius National Park. From here, take a short hike up to the steaming crater for stunning views of Capri and Sorrento. During the winter season between November and March, Mt. Vesuvius is closed, so your tour will follow the coastline and take you to the city of Naples. Explore the iconic Castle Nuovo, the famous art deco Umberto I Gallery, or simply wander around the monumental Plebiscito Square.

Excellent tour. The guide Sonia was exceptional and very friendly. Pompei tour was amazing and you have lot of time exploring the same. Although it is lot of walking and tiring. Keep in mind walking for around 4 hours. We didn't visit the volcano as it was winter time. Instead they took us to Naples. It was a short visit but worth. Lot of historic and food exploring. Very well organized and worth the time.

This was an amazing trip. The initial trip to Pompeii was a long ride, but Julianna made it a great experience. She taught us many interesting facts about Rome and several places we passed as we rode to the site. She also shared personal stories and took the time to meet each person in the group. You can tell she really enjoys meeting people and sharing stories and this made it a great initial journey. When we got to Pompeii, we were handed off to another great tour guide, Bernadette. She was extremely knowledgeable about the site and stopped at all the interesting places and shared great details about Pompeii and it's history. Another really awesome aspect of the tour within the site was the pace. Bernadette gave us plenty of time in each area to take pictures along the way and we never felt rushed. Unfortunately we were not able to go to Vesuvius due to weather so Julianna took us to Naples instead. We had a nice walk to see the Castel and the Square and take some more family pics.

Seeing the ruins of Pompeii and the volcano that covered them is an amazing experience. We really appreciated the way that City Wonders took the trouble to arrange for us a wonderful mountain lunch, even though landslides had made hiking impossible. Note to parents: our son is almost 7 years old, but in hindsight was probably too young for this tour. I'm guessing slightly older children would have a better attention span for it.
