Explore the history and lesser-known facts about the best-preserved monument from Ancient Rome on a 45-minute guided tour of the Pantheon. Learn how the basilica has represented the expression of the glory of Rome for over 2,000 years. Learn how the building inspired one of the great artists of the Renaissance when Raphael chose it as his place of eternal rest. Founded by Marcus Agrippa between 25 and 27 BC as a temple to the 12 gods, the building was originally part of a complex created on his property in the Campus Martius. Learn how the remains of many martyrs were removed from the Christian catacombs and placed in the Pantheon on the orders of Pope Boniface IV In 608. Marvel at the immense dome with a diameter of 43,30 meters and its famous oculus that allows natural light to illuminate the beautiful interior.

Our tour guide was Julia and she was excellent. We arrived early and walked around and questioned if we should stay longer for the guided tour. It was definitely worth the wait. She provided details about the open ceiling, the built in draining holes that we glanced over. She provided so much detail on the dome, the floors, the tombs of Victor Emmanuel and Raphael, etc. Great Tour!!!

With the guided tour, unlike the one with a simple audio guide, you can skip the line which can be really long, over an hour. Just arrive 15 minutes early and talk to the guys who check the green pass, document and voucher outside the Pantheon. Visit lasted almost an hour and illustrated in a timely and precise manner by the staff girl with photographic supports thanks to a tablet. Excellent service offered in great detail.

The Jewel of the city. Breathtaking!

The tour guide was informative and gave our small group historical background knowledge of the Pantheon. Rome's history is plentiful, but I consider the Pantheon the number one tourist spot to visit. Stunning! I highly recommend going early in the morning with a tour guide to point out detailed facts of this historic site.
