Put on your apron and become a master chef for a day! Shop for ingredients, learn the secrets of Roman cuisine, and taste the recipes you have prepared along with others in your cooking class. Enjoy some delicious local wine with your meal.
What to Expect
Begin your half-day program in Rome by meeting the chef/instructor near a local market, and discuss the composition of the menu that you’ll prepare.
You’ll learn about ingredients, seasonality, and traditions of Rome’s culinary history as you do the shopping together. You’ll be able to sample and purchase the ingredients for your lunch while wandering among the produce-packed stands.
During the 3 hours of the lesson, you’ll learn to cook traditional Italian dishes and Roman specialties. With the assistance of your chef/instructor, you’ll prepare a first course, a second course, and a dessert (or alternatively, an appetizer). Roman cod fillet, amatriciana, Roman artichokes, and tart with ricotta and cherries are just a few examples of what you could include on the menu.
Together with the chef and the other participants, you’ll taste what you have prepared during your lunch/dinner accompanied by local wine.
