Full description

Taste your way through Rome’s fabled restaurants, bustling markets, and specialty food shops on a guided Roman food tour. Try local cuisine and visit city highlights, including Campo de Fiori, the Jewish Ghetto, and Trastevere. Your 3.5-hour walking tour takes you to some of the city’s best-loved neighborhoods to sample a variety of different delights, from gleaming, beautifully-displayed fruits and vegetables in Campo de' Fiori (for the morning option) to the artisanal gelatos of the picturesque Trastevere neighborhood. Groups are kept to no more than 15 people so that you won't miss a sip, a bite, or an expertly woven point of Roman culinary heritage as you wander through lively plazas and flower-strewn side streets. The stops include historical markets, bustling bakeries, gelaterias, and traditional restaurants where you'll share the delicious food and wines of the region. Sample pizza bianca, the legendary mid-morning snack of Rome, festooned with thin slices of savory mortadella; you'll also taste cool, flavorful gelato and expertly browned supplì: tomatoey fried rice balls stuffed with creamy morsels of mozzarella. You might even try fried codfish in the Jewish Ghetto and catch a waft of exotic spices in the Campo de' Fiori market. Through tasting, talking, savoring, and sharing, you'll learn about the culinary history of Italy, fundamental to so much of the culture's richness. You'll also get the inside scoop on any special food events taking place at the time of your visit. By the end of the tour, you'll have learned to order food in Rome like a pro and where to find the best bites in town, preparing you to eat like an emperor for the rest of your Roman holiday!

An enjoyable food tour of Rome. Anastasia was a great guide and was very accommodating of our toddler. Had other locals verify we hit some of the best spots on this tour. Highly recommend to do this tour early on in your trip as the guide can give restaurant recommendations near where you are staying or even in areas you are traveling to.

His was amazing! We loved the food! Come hungry! Julia was a fabulous tour guide and shared history along the way. She also sent all the links to places we visited and recipes too. We loved making friends with the others on the tour. When you eat together you become family!

It was a really nice trip and we learned a lot about food and good places to eat and where not to eat if you wanted real Italian food. We were explained where the food originally came from and which traditions could be connected to the food we tasted. The portions didn't seem that big, but you have to remember that these are taste tests and there will be a lot of them. In any case, we were VERY full and it constituted a whole dinner meal for us. The guide was nice and very good at explaining and getting the whole group involved. Her English was perfectly understandable.
