Full description

Have the Vatican to yourself on this exclusive early morning tour that whisks you through closed doors for a buffet breakfast in the peaceful Pinecone Courtyard, before anyone else enters the museums.

Feast on an Italian-American breakfast buffet of cooked-to-order eggs, meats, cheeses, muffins, croissants, fresh fruits, cereals, and pancakes made by the Vatican's pancake chef.

Dine in the Pinecone Courtyard, alongside one of the Vatican Museums' most beautiful works of modern art, and experience tranquility rarely seen by Vatican visitors. Follow your guide to explore the Vatican Museums. With only 13 people per group, take the time and space to appreciate the art.

See rooms such as the Hall of Maps, Gallery of the Tapestries, and the Gallery of the Candelabra. Your guide will bring works of art to life, pointing out things you would have missed on your own.

Continue to the legendary Sistine Chapel. Then, skip the ticket lines to enter St. Peter’s Basilica. See the altar and marvel at Michelangelo’s La Pietà sculpture.

Meeting point

Meet at the bottom of the wide steps across from the entrance to the Vatican Museums. The steps are located between Caffè Vaticano and Hotel Alimandi Vaticano, on the corner of Viale Vaticano and Via Tunisi. The City Wonders Co-ordinators will be wearing blue polo shirts or jackets for easy recognition. The closest metro stop is Ottaviano - Musei Vaticani (Line A/Red Line). From Ottaviano - Musei Vaticani, exit the turnstiles, walk straight to the back of the station and go to the left-side exit. Once you've reached the left-side exit, go out on the side marked "Viale Giulio Cesare." Walk straight (west) down Viale Giulio Cesare (which turns into Via Candia) for 3.5 blocks, crossing three junctions (Via Vespiano, Via Leona IV, and Via Santamaura). At the 4th junction (Via Tunisi), turn left and walk straight down Via Tunisi for a block.

This was well worth the money. Mickey was a great guide. Not only knowledgeable but also added a lot of value to the experience. The breakfast was decent and had a variety of options. Could order more of something if you wanted. The time savings of being able to walk from the Sistine Chapel to St Peter’s was well worth it to skip the lines. Also it was easy to just walk up and buy a ticket to the dome after the tour. Again this was well worth the money when you add up the cost of a Vatican Museum ticket, breakfast, a guide, and a skip the line ticket at St Peter’s. My friends weren’t excited about the trip to the Vatican but really loved it and was the highlight of Rome. 5 stars all the way!

With so many tours that seem the same, this one fit our trip needs. The breakfast was better than expected. The guide did a great job prepping us for the tour. The headsets while not great fitting, were very helpful and enhanced the experience. The part that disappointed was the guide left after the Sistine Chapel, and didn’t accompany anyone into St. Peter’s. Overall a good tour, it was still very full inside, so I can’t imagine a tour later in the day!

So glad we booked this guided tour to visit the Vatican Museum before the crowds arrive. Our guide Frederica M is professional and wonderful story teller - she brought the artwork to life and ensured our questions were addressed. Breakfast within the premises was a lovely experience but the highlight was really the insights and sharing from our guide about the history of the place and stories behind the artwork. Highly recommend this tour when you’re in Rome. Frederica also gave us suggestions on how to make the best use of our time in St Peter’s Basilica after the guided tour of the Vatican Museum/ Sistine Chapel. We saw the long queue to enter the Basilica and were glad we decided to choose this early morning tour to so that we could enjoy our visit instead of squeezing with everyone. There were still quite a few tour groups but fewer people than if we had entered at the regular hours. Also love the clear instructions on the meeting point and the google maps coordinates.
