Overview
Discover masterpieces of art in the Borghese Gallery on an 8-hour tour of Rome. Walk down the Spanish Steps, and explore the ruins of the Roman Republic, including the Imperial Forum and Colosseum. Lunch in a typical Roman restaurant, and more.
What to Expect
Skip the long lines to the Borghese Gallery in the Villa Borghese at the start of a full-day tour of Rome. Renowned for centuries as “The Sovereign of all Private Art Collections,” the museum exhibits masterpieces of art that the noble Borghese family amassed in their summer residence from 1600.

Next, stroll through Borghese Park, one of Rome’s largest and most delightful parks. Highlights of the peaceful gardens include an unusual water clock and the Alpini monument to Italy’s elite mountain army corp. Stop at the Pincio terrace for breathtaking views of Rome, and walk the panoramic Pincio promenade to the Trinità dei Monti. Descend the legendary Spanish Steps to Bernini’s Fontana della Barcaccia, a fountain in the shape of a half-sunken ship.

After lunch in a typical restaurant, explore the ruins of Ancient Rome, starting at the triumphal Arch of Constantine, the largest and one of the best preserved arches in Rome. Next, go inside the Colosseum to experience the largest amphitheater of the Roman Empire like the emperors and citizens of Rome when they gathered for the legendary gladiatorial fights.

Continue to Palatine Hill, site of Rome’s birth, following the legend of Romulus and Remus. Later a settlement for the most important villas of the Roman Republic, the hill provides panoramic views of the Roman Forum and Circus Maximus.

Go inside the Forum to see the ruins of the House of the Vestal Virgins, Senate House and Capitol Palace, as well as the Via Sacra (Sacred Way) and the remains of historic temples.
