Full description

Cycle through the Roman countryside with your guide, passing through the old gate of St Sebastian. Travel along the ancient Appian Way, outside of Rome.

First, pass through the 1st-century Roman cemetery and underground worship site at the Catacombs of St Callisto. Continue to cycle to the first section of original Roman stones that pave the Appian Way. Cycle the first 5 miles of the ancient Roman road lined by tombs and trees until you reach the Park of the Aquaducts. Take a break here for a few minutes to admire these Roman constructions, tracing their path back into the city. On your way back into the city, stop at a local spring for a picnic lunch. Having enjoyed a relaxing break in the shade, pass through the Cafarella Valley with its flocks of sheep and Roman ruins, including Ninfeo Egeria.

The tour using ebikes is very easy. You can do it with any fitness level. Experience in bikes control is required as part of the tour (actually small) goes together with a car traffic. I'm not recommend for childrens. The lunch is great and tasting. Take with you water. Bikes had special bags.

Outstanding experience; one of the highlights of my trip to Rome this far. Glenn, the guide, was very personable and took great care of the small group today. The picnic at the spring (porchetta sandwich and wine) was fantastic, but the views of the Appian Way and ancient aqueducts were spectacular. I highly recommend this tour as well as Glenn and The Red Bicycle tour company.

A really fun way to see the aqueducts and Appian way. The trails and parks were beautiful and allowed for minimal cycling on busy streets. We saw impressive areas of Rome and learned of their fascinating history which we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. We felt very safe with our tour guide, Glen, who skillfully led 12 e bikers for 4 hours. The bikes were in new condition and the odd flat tire was repaired very quickly by Glen. The traditional Italian lunch bought at the market was great!
