What to Expect
Resting at the foot of the Appian Hills and just a short distance from Rome is the beautiful Italian region known as the Castelli Romani, or the "Castles of Rome." Spend a day exploring the Italian countryside and the charming communes that dot the land on this fun Vespa tour from Rome.

Begin the tour in the heart of Rome and, aboard your Vespa, make your way down the Appian Way to the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella and the ancient Circus of Maxentius. Continue on along the Appian Way to the first stop of the day: the Castel Gandolfo, a summer residence for various Popes since Urban VIII (1623).

Continue past the communes of Albano and Ariccia, stopping to taste some local products at one of the typical "fraschette" or taverns in the region. The last stop of the day will be to the town of Grottaferrata and its stunning Greek Abbey of San Nilo, founded in 1004 and called “an oriental jewel in the pontifical crown” by Pope Leo XIII.
