Day of the Dead Tour in San Andres Míxquic From Mexico City

Day of the Dead Tour in San Andres Míxquic From Mexico City

Join our small-group (max 12 people) or private (your group only) tour to witness one of Mexico’s most iconic cultural traditions—Day of the Dead in San Andrés Mixquic. Based on feedback from past seasons, we've refined this experience to ensure a smoother, more meaningful visit. By starting earlier in the day, we avoid the heavy traffic and crowds that often build up later, giving you the chance to explore the town and cemeteries while it’s still peaceful. We begin our journey from Mexico City and head straight to Mixquic, one of the original villages of the Tláhuac area. Upon arrival, we’ll explore the town’s decorated streets and learn about the pre-Hispanic roots of the Day of the Dead. A local guide will share insights into the symbolism of the colorful skulls, marigolds, candles, and the altars (ofrendas) set up to honor deceased loved ones. You’ll visit the local cemetery where families gather to clean and decorate graves, light candles, and spend time in remembrance. Our small group size allows for a more respectful and immersive experience, and by returning earlier, we ensure a comfortable and well-paced day without delays. This is not just a tour—it’s a reflection on life, memory, and Mexican heritage, brought to life in one of the most authentic and moving places to witness this celebration.

nice bike ride, very relaxed at a very quiet pace. First through very nice quiet neighborhoods and parks and then through the old center. On a Sunday a large part of the center is car-free so that is the ideal day for this tour. The guides were very pleasant to deal with. Clear communication from the day before, During the tour regularly some information about the city but never too long or too boring, just right. The mountain bikes are of good quality and available in different sizes. However, the pace of the tour is so slow and without altitude difference that even my grandmother could keep up with this. So normal city bikes may be better suited, but these were also really fine. After the tour you get some photos and videos via the app. A nice morning to get to know other travelers in this way and to see more of the city than when you walk or take the bus. so definitely worth it!

We had an amazing time on the bike tour. Eduardo and Sergio did a great job. It was really fun and educational well. Stopping for tacos and churros was a bonus. We covered A LOT of ground so we were able to see lots of things and different neighborhoods! Highly recommend doing it on Sunday as you get to experience Avenue Reforma completely shut down for bikes and runners. So happy we did it! Muchas Gracias Eduardo and Sergio! Kristin and Peter.

Absolutely fantastic! We went on our 2nd day into our trip and it was a great way to get the lay of the land and to see so many of the spots and neighborhoods we want to spend more time in. Super tidbits of history along the way and guides were highly attentive to groups safety along the way. Bikes were in great shape and loved that they made food recommendations and shared photos with the group. Highly recommend!!
