Full description

Travel from Rome to Pompeii in an air-conditioned private coach, accompanied all the way by your expert tour coordinator. Benefit from skip-the-line entry and enjoy a self-guided visit around the ancient city. Throughout the ruins, you’ll come across death casts: plaster recreations of unfortunate citizens preserved by the superheated volcanic ash. After visiting Pompeii, the coach will take you up the slope of Mt. Vesuvius (from April to mid-November), one of Europe’s few active volcanoes located in the Vesuvius National Park. From here, take a short hike up to the steaming crater for stunning views of Capri and Sorrento. During the winter season between November and March, Mt. Vesuvius is closed, so your tour will follow the coastline and take you to the city of Naples, where you can explore the iconic Castle Nuovo, the famous art deco Umberto I Gallery, or simply wander around the monumental Plebiscito Square.

We went to Pompeii with Romel, the driver, and Roberto the tour guide. It was a small group, me and my wife and another couple. During the drive Roberto explained a lot about Pompeii history, gave us a map of the ruins and suggested a route going through lots of points of interest. Unfortunately he didn't go with us inside the ruins, but that gave us the opportunity to wander around and explore on our own. Then we headed to Naples and explored the city center. Again, Roberto was super helpful sharing the information over the city history, traditional dishes and main touristic spots. It was a small peek into the city, a couple hours around the Piazza del Plebiscito. During the summer the tour would go to Mount Vesuvius or the Amalfi Coast, which I would love to see too.

Rob and Romell were amazing we got to Pompeii early which gave us ample amount of time to explore and look around which was also the case for Naples. Rob was happy to answer any questions we may have and was very friendly, Romell provided an excellent ride to and from the intended destination without a single problem.

The tour guide was very motivated and knowledgeable during the excursion. Pompeii met all expectations when the weather was nice. The trip to Vesuvius was interesting, but only went to an intermediate station at about 1000m altitude. Variety was only very small, since the vegetation is very little. The light conditions in the late afternoon were no longer so good, so that the view towards Naples and Pompeii was very hazy.
