What people are saying about Riomaggiore
We had a wonderful day with a bus full of people going out to Cinque Terre and Marco, our tour guide was spot on! He cares for each one of us like we were the only ones there and gave great directions to all of us as we journeyed From town to town. Thanks to Marco!!! Cinque Terre area itself, is something that has to be seen! Seeing photos just won't do it justice! Each town had an unique quality about them and it was great going from area to area on the local train and then riding the boat from the top of the 5 cities down to the bottom... Before we left to come back to Florence... it had a great view and made some wonderful memories. We wavered back and forth going to Cinque Terre because we had just gotten off a medditerran cruise and thought we had seen it all... but WOW... definitely a top ranked item on our vacation list of favorites! Again Marco-thanks!
Marco was our guide- he was friendly, accommodating, and great! Even was able to pick up my grandma as she was not able to do the long walk from the ship to the boat. On the tour you will see all five villages of the Cinque Terre with photo opportunities in front of each town and short description variations from your guide of where we are. however you were only able to get off in Monterosa for one hour. By the time we walked up and found a spot for lunch we were really only left with 10 or 15 minutes of sightseeing. Only complaint was I wish there was more time to view the town. However, it was beautiful and the boat ride was great! You can do this tour if you are coming on a cruise. And communication before to confirm tour and meeting location/time is super easy via the WhatsApp app. Great for 23, 51, 65, and 77-year-old.
Had a great time, Edgard and Violette did a great job as well the driver Dario. You know it is a long tour (13h) so that is OK but the size of the group (80-90p?) means that you spend a lot of time waiting, always someone running a bit late, a 15 mins coffee/bathroom stop becomes 30 mins; etc... But overall very glad I finally visited the 5 Terre and yeah ... this is the price you pay for such a popular spot! Don't wanna think how packed it could become in July-August??
I’m not used to large groups but I had no option as getting to Cinque Terra for a day is really only possible by road. I booked late for smaller groups but no vacancies. The group was 52 people with one leader and two subs. Anastasia was very strategic with the group and avoided the masses as far as possible. The free time when we got to each destination was ample. All in all I’m glad I didn’t pay the lots extra for a small group. It worked well.
The tour guides had everything under control, Serena knew perfect Spanish and English. The only thing that was a waste of time was the lunch. Do not take the tour with lunch included, you can find cheaper and better tasting food rather than the restaurant they took us to, and it was an hour long, an hour that you can use to explore more. Everything was amazing and Porto Venere was worth it.
