I liked this tour a lot more than I thought I would and I was pleasantly surprised. Our tour guide was a local from the favela who was very knowledgeable. During this tour I was able to see how passionate the people in the favela are. I was also able to see how they live on a day to day basis there. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Rio De Janeiro.

Real eye opener about life in the favelas, can’t fault the tour and felt completely safe throughout, would only say it is a long walk downhill through the favela with not the best roads or paths so if unsteady on your feet might be easier to do a taxi tour rather than walk, our guide was great and as he lived there he was able to make it more real for us, well worth the cost of the trip

A truly wonderful experience and one not to be missed when in Rio. I recommended this trip to some people we met during our stay and they immediately booked it. Our guide Carlos (who lives in the Favella) was excellent, albeit sometimes a little blunt about things. He explained the history behind the Favellas which really opened our eyes to how and why everyone lives there. It was very humbling to meet some of these lovely people - do try their food from the street vendors. Carlos took us to one of them and we had one of the chicken pastries and an orange drink which cost us about £1 each, a delicious lunch eaten on the hoof so to speak, and very welcome. Be aware that this is a walking tour and that the steep climb and the steps when arriving is not for the fainthearted and at times can be challenging. However, the climb down is easier, via stone steps and the views are amazing.
