What to Expect
Spend a special and memorable day in Rio on a Gavea rock hike. The duration of the activity is 7 hours. Ascend to the summit, at 842 meters/2,763 feet above sea level. The ascent itself takes around 2.5 hours.
Except for a steep but short hand-climb (15 meters/49 feet) and a bit of a walk along the edge of a precipice, you’ll find that the hike is all perfectly safe and doable for anyone.
Once you have reached the summit, you’ll have breathtaking views of the Tijuca forest, Pedra Bonita, the Rocinha favela, São Conrado beach, Cristo Redentor, Sugarloaf, Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon and Barra da Tijuca.
