The Guaratiba tour is perfect for beginners, the waters are calm and the paddle is light. This tour passes by the river mouth where we can see the lovely Marambaia beach and we also explore the submerged mangroves forests.
What to Expect
Your experience begins on the drive down to the mangroves. Guaratiba is the last neighborhood in Rio, the drive takes you through all the beaches, including Prainha and Grumari.
Once you get to the house where the paddle begins, you will be given safety instructions and a few tips on how to paddle – it is very easy, and most of the people who paddle with are doing it for the first time. Paddling is scheduled according to the tide of the date you have chosen, this way our paddle is a very pleasant experience as you drift along through most of the course. During the paddle you will get to see the Marambaia beach first, it is a beautiful stretch of sand enclosing the Sepetiba bay. In this part of the tour it is very common to see big sea turtles. Exploring the many canals of the mangroves takes up the rest of the paddle, here we can observe many different types of birds.
The activity can be tailored to your needs, whether you want to paddle more, enjoy just floating down the canals, try some yoga or focus on taking pics you choose! Guaratiba is famous for its great seafood restaurants, where you are recommend to stay for lunch. Another activity to do there is the Burle Marx Ranch tour. Burle Marx was a famous Brazilian landscape artist. The tour takes you through his property, which has the largest colection of tropical plants in South America.
