Highlights of Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro is one of the most dynamic cities on the South American continent. If you're lucky enough to sample its vivid culture, here's what you shouldn't miss.

Christ the Redeemer
Standing on Corcovado Mountain, Christ the Redeemer towers over the city and could probably be called the symbol of Rio de Janeiro.

Copacabana & Ipanema
Brazil is famous for its thriving beach scene, and Rio offers no shortage of chances to get in on that. Copacabana and Ipanema are the city's premier beaches

Santa Teresa
Built in the 18th century, the beautiful district of Santa Teresa offers the opportunity to see colonial architecture as well as Rio's underground artistic culture.

Tijuca Rainforest
Rio's nearby Nationalpark Tijuca is simply delightful. Home to many different types of wildlife and offering breathtaking views over the city.

Football
Brazil's national football team is enviable, and many of its stars are from one of Rio de Janeiro's clubs. Olimpico or Maracana. If you're a sports fan, get yourself to a match!

Sugarloaf Mountain
Ride in a cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain and get a load of Rio from above!

The Cagarras Islands
Cruise the Atlantic and experience blue tranquil paradise. You don't just have to lie down, you can also dive off for a swim!
Planning Your Rio de Janeiro Visit
How long should I stay in Rio de Janeiro?
Seven action-packed days is a good start!
How walkable is Rio de Janeiro?
Rio offers many public transit options, including bus and metro. Note that air-conditioned buses cost a little more than non-air-conditioned buses, so if you are traveling a long distance around the city and you're not used to hot weather, it may be worth considering shelling out a bit more. It's quite a hilly city, so walking can sometimes be akin to hiking - make sure you are wearing good shoes.
When should I visit Rio de Janeiro?
All year round - the temperature does not vary too much.
Anything else I should know?
It is recommended to take a taxi in Rio de Janeiro at night, rather than walking or using the public transport. Do not flash your cash or valuables around, always be on your guard when withdrawing cash at an ATM. If venturing into areas outside the more touristic ones, better not do it unaccompanied.

What people are saying about Rio de Janeiro
There isn’t much to expect here, it’s exactly as it says. you get to the meeting point and you’ll find people waiting for you, the van takes you all the way up to Christ the Redeemer, entry ticket is included. They give you enough time to enjoy the views, take some pictures and do a little shopping. The best part is that they have many vans and you can choose anyone to return with (in case you want to return early or stay a bit late).
Amazing trip, but the guide we had is the best. Positive energy and enthusiasm influenced us a lot. One tiny shortcut is enormous amount of pick up spots, of course it is made for convenience of lazy tourist, but I would rather sleep more and then walk 15 minutes to the specific hotel than driving extra hour in copacobana neighborhood. Overall I really enjoyed!
This was absolutely wonderful, the guide ‘Marcelo’ is extremely friendly and welcoming, getting to the meeting point was easy, the boat was well equipped and had the most amazing staff. the drinks, the views, the pictures were all perfect to a point. I highly recommend this for anyone who’s in Rio de Janeiro! A truly unforgettable experience.
The tour was very well organized, the pickup was on time and the tour guide toke the time to explain the day. We had at all the stops enough time to view and make pictures. The lunch was excellent in a typical brazilian restaurant. I would recommend this tour.
The trip was amazing it was worth every penny. People working there were really helpful and fun and the experience was one of a kind. Recommend it to everyone visiting Rio its a must do!
