Severin na Kupi: Canoeing and Kayaking on the Kupa River

A true wilderness experience in the Croatian highland is waiting for you on the upper Kupa River. You will have a great time in nature, even if the water is not warm enough to swim in. This tour is calmer than our "Rafting/Kayaking Adventure on Kupa River" and you can easily participate without former experience. You will be accompanied by our professional guide to the start and he/she will give you all necessary instructions and training in basic paddling skills. There are 7 old water dams with rapids on each, which are manageable for you by yourself and make for good excitement. You may paddle the parts in between the rapids in whatever pace you like. Take breaks for picnic, swimming, refreshing yourself at freshwater springs or in waterfalls. It's easy to get to this tour, if you are staying in the Kvarner bay area with its islands, Istria or the Zagreb area. NEW: "Light Family Rafting" Option: If you like, you can paddle down the river in a raft for 4-8 people. If you have small children, you can fit up to 10 people. If you are a group of big guys, 6 people is the maximum. Float down the river, all in one boat, enjoy nature and share the task of paddling. This is the chill-trip, not the adrenaline version! No need for a guide to steer the raft, you can do it yourself. If the raft gets stuck on some rocks, you simple have everyone get out and go for a swim, while someone push the boat back into deeper water. The Family Raft comes with a cooler box for your drinks and sandwiches. You can bring a water-proof radio/bluetooth box for your own music, if you like. This is another great way to enjoy the beautiful Kupa Valley! If you would like to take a raft, please let us know, when you book the tour.

Rijeka: Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle

Rijeka: Postojna Cave and Predjama Castle

Your tour will begin with Postojna Cave, one of the best-known caves in the world. It is also the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world’s largest karst monuments. This is the only place in the world where the underground landscape can be traversed on an electric train and where you can meet this underground kingdom’s most famous inhabitant, the proteus (olm), up close. A fantastic web of tunnels, passages, galleries and halls, astonishing diversity of karst features as well as easy access are certainly the main reasons for the popularity of the cave and a large number of visitors. From here the tour extends to the Predjama Castle which reigns over the surrounding area, not far from the Postojna Cave, in the idyllic village of Predjama. This picturesque, magnificent, defiant, mysterious and impregnable castle has been perched in the middle of a vertical 123-meter high cliff for more than 800 years. Its romantic appeal is further emphasized by the idyllic Lokva River, which disappears into the underground world deep below the castle. As the only preserved cave castle in Europe, the Predjama Castle offers a unique insight into the building techniques and resourcefulness of people in the Middle Ages, who were looking for and found a safe harbor for themselves right at the entrance of the cave. During a siege that took place in the 15th century, the castle provided a refuge for its best known and most notorious owner, Erazem of Predjama. The legend of the courageous robber baron Erazem, who remained undefeated until one of his servants betrayed him, is still in people’s minds, inspiring and alluring as ever. It was this safe abode of his which helped the brave knight resist the besiegers without much difficulty for more than a year.

Tour the underground with no experience required

Tour the underground with no experience required

In this tour we visit the 550-meter-long underground World War II fortress and offer you the opportunity to try abseiling - descending a rock face with a rope. The fortress remained unfinished and is therefore a unique combination of architecture created by both man and nature. And that is not all. Until a few years ago, this building was forgotten and hidden. It was only recently discovered, put to rights and equipped for visitors. We start the tour with an introduction to the abseiling technique and familiarizing ourselves with the equipment. This is followed by an exercise on a horizontal surface and a descent demonstration. After equipping ourselves, we descend the vertical natural rock and enter the high underground rooms built in concrete. We begin our walk through the fort accompanied by special effects. Since the facility was built on two levels, there is another abseil, this time on a slope. At the end of the tour, we have prepared a special audio-visual surprise that will take us back in time. And for the bravest, there is a challenge - turning off the head torches and finding the way out in pitch darkness. A van is waiting for us at the exit and will take us back to the starting point. GUIDES: David Kalaba, Marko Krpešić (the number of guides depends on the number of participants ) Staring point: Plase ulica 21, Rijeka (Rujevica) Transportation to the starting point possible on request and is surcharged Language: English, Croatian Please bring warmer clothes (the temperature in underground facilities is 14-16°C) and adequate footwear (hiking shoes or sturdy sneakers) All of the abseiling equipment is provided, certified according to valid standards and regularly checked Tour and entrance to the underground facilities at your own risk Not recommended for persons suffering from epileptic seizures and claustrophobia

A really great tour! You get some information about the islands and the like over the loudspeaker. The crew also walks around with old maps and explains things about the different places. We were very lucky to see dolphins and were also able to watch a white-headed vulture. The swimming stops are within the limits and you can decide whether to use them. Our 5-year-old was even allowed to take the helm herself at the end. All of the crew members were very accommodating. We would book again!

Probably one of the best tours we took in Europe this trip. Guide was very knowledgeable and fun. It was a big group and some were inclined to straggle, but he was conscious of this and did his best to wait for everyone. Walked us through the fish market (after checking it wouldn’t be a problem for anyone) and gave us local tips. Tour even went a bit longer than 2 hours. He was lovely!

Ohhh. We loved it, I thank the organizer very much because we arrived late and he did everything to ensure that we caught up with the others. Honestly, everyone was nice, it was like a family, warm 🤩🤩🤩. I will be back. The price at the top, nothing to say. Just wonderful ******. I recommend it +++++

our guide and how knowledgeable he was about a town with so much history, despite not being as pretty or old as others on our trip. he was funny too - totally recommend this tour

Nice activity with a bit of action. Silvio & Antonio funny and helpful guides. For 75€ in my opinion it could be more ziplining instead of waiting because of other people.
