Richtis Gorge

Take a tour to Richtis beach on the far side of Mirabello Bay and trek through the forest to the stunning Richtis waterfall. After pickup from your accommodation, enjoy the beautiful scenery on the 1-hour drive to the bay of Mirabello. Leave the asphalt and travel off road down to Richtis beach, hugging the mountainside.  Park at the bottom and enter Richtis gorge to start the 30-minute walk to reach the falls. Follow a trail through the forest, listening to the sounds of birds and running water. Stop to admire the incredible waterfalls, with time to climb up the stairs to the top of the falls, take photos, or swim in the cool waters.  When you are ready to leave, head back to the beach along the same trail. During the tour you’ll enjoy a traditional lunch at a local tavern, with wine and water included. At the end of your tour, you’ll be dropped off back at your hotel in the Elounda area.

Our adventure begins at 9:00am as we hike through the Gorge, winding our way under the lush green with the cicadas accompanying us with their song. The pièce de résistance awaits! 20 minutes before the end our hike, we'll stumble upon a breathtaking waterfall, where we'll take a refreshing dip and capture unforgettable photos. As we continue our journey, the gorge will lead us to the pebbled and rugged beach of Exo Mouliana, where we'll indulge in delicious homemade snacks accompanied by traditional Cretan music. Your experience starts from Agios Nikolaos, heading east with the Gulf of Mirabello on your left side. You will then drive to Istron and the stunning beaches of Karavostasi, as wel as Agios Panteleimonasm Golden Beach Voulisma and the village of Kavousi. Following that, you will visit the Minoan settlement of Azoria where the oldest olive tree in the world is located. You will then explore the mouth of the mind boggling Richtis Gorge, where you will explore an amazing trail within the gorge see the falls of Richtis. The falls. will prove to be a provider of wonderful images, and will be well worth the effort of walking along the trail, which leads to a pebbled beach. The hike is very easy, even for young children, and on the way back you can stroll around the alleys of the picturesque village of Tourloti
