This was our first time visiting the Azores. We decided to fly from Terciera Island where we were staying to Sao Miguel for a couple days to enjoy the island. We signed up with Pure Azores Tour company to visit the East and Westside tours. We were very fortunate to have Hugo as our tour guide and the cherry on the cake was that the other couple did not show so we had a private tour for the day. The weather was not cooperative and was rainy and foggy all day not allowing us to see some of the sights on top of the volcanoes. This did not stop Hugo from giving my wife and I a wonderful day. Hugo is one of the most passionate people I have ever met. He was born on the island and truly shows his love and respect for the people, animals, culture and beauty the Azores has to offer. He took us to each place, explained how it worked and what it was like for him as a child on the island. He knew everyone we saw that day and the respect he showed my wife and I was unbelievable.

Miguel was our tour guide and was fantastic in all respects! The group was a small one of 8 people. Pick was at our Casa (which we recommend you call them the day before to confirm your location and pick up time), and we were back to our Casa by 6 pm as advertised. We recommend you rent a car for some of your time in Sao Miguel, but as far as value goes, you can't do better than see all these natural wonders, have transportation and lunch included for the price of this tour. A car rental and lunch alone would exceed your cost for one person today!

The guide is local, so we had a great introduction of history, way of life there in Sao Miguel. Overall good experience, and especially lunch is A LOT and local as well, though crowded. It seemed every tour would stop by there to offer lunch. Not so punctual, they picked me after 30 min later. Also, we missed the main part that our group would like to go, and we didn't go back there after lunch due to weather conditions. Was a pity. Scenery was stunning overall, we stopped by many places, a good quick view of Sao Miguel west part!

This is the tour for the independent traveller who wants to get the most of the Azores. You are travelling in minibus which takes max 8 people. The guides answer any question you have and explain everything about the island in very knowledgeable way. This was São Miguel West and we visited so many spectacular views and had a very good lunch which included both wine and dessert. Highly recommended for anyone!

My tour guide was Miguel and he was interactive and made sure I was kept involved (as I was a single traveller). The tour was amazing and truly got to experience one of the beautiful azure island and appreciate all the great things it had to offer. Thank you to Miguel and the company :-)
