What People Are Saying About Rialto Bridge

Abbondanza! A wonderful blend of food, wine, history and culture!

Warning: come hungry! Allessandra, our tour guide, brought us through the old and new Ghetto districts, explaining the origins and changes through history, and stopped at a bakery to pick up a sweet and savory unleavened pastry to start the food part of the tour. We then toured through winding streets and alleys, crossing many bridges in the Cannaregio district, on our giro d'ombra, stopping at 3 bacari to sample wine & cicchetti (don't call them tapas!). Then to a restaurant for wonderful pasta with (of course) more wine. Then on to a favorite gelateria near Campo di Santi Apostoli to end our tour. A delicious blend of food, wine, history and culture, hosted by a great tour guide, Allessandra, who kept us informed and entertained. Highly recommended - a great introduction to a side of Venice we never glimpsed on our first visit. Also a great value!

Highly informative, sufficient time to cover Venice comfortably

Very good tour guide, reasonably sized group and well timed pace covering many aspects of Venice through the ages.

A good experience to see what gondola travel feels like

Prepare for a shared gondola that will seat 6 tourists. You do not choose your seat - heavier passengers tend to be placed on the 'romantic" rear seats & others seated on cushion seats or a chair. Went Sept 15 for ride at 4pm & booked it via mobile internet only 2 hrs earlier! We found gondola station beforehand; Venice has many gondola bases that all do different routes. You wait for agency guide to arrive to check you in. The stationmaster does not deal with vouchers. As gondola rides are the busiest tourist attraction in Venice, be prepared for no romance or gondolier attention - this is just a chance to ride in a gondola on a short route of the canals & then be taken onto the Grand Canal for a short while before heading back to base. The trip advises 35 mins but its about 25mins all in. The gondoliers are v occupied shouting to one another en route. It was fine to see what it's like. Note: The set price at any station for private hire is 80€ per gondola daytime; 100€ at night.
