Full description

Discover adorable puffins on a cruise from the Old Harbor in Reykjavík. Search for local whales on a second cruise from Reykjavík to Faxaflói Bay. Stay warm with inside seating and overalls. See local wildlife clearly with the use of binoculars on the puffin tour.

Travel by a small boat named Skúlaskeið (Old Skúli), perfect for puffin watching, since it has a shallow draught, and therefore can get really close to the small islands where the puffins live. The guides are very knowledgeable about the thriving bird life in Reykjavík's surroundings. Benefit from this combo tour's included classic whale watching tour, operated on the Andrea boat, lasting 3 to 3.5 hours. The Andrea is the biggest whale watching boat in Iceland, and has an educational and interactive focus. It is also family friendly and spacious with a cafeteria on-board. If you choose to, you can switch to the express tour leaving 1 hour later on a faster boat that gets you out to the whale watching area quicker than the other whale watching boats, but still allows you to have plenty of time. Most common whale sights in Faxaflói Bay are minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbor porpoises. Note that these are two separate tours and you don't have to do them on the same day.

We saw SO MANY WHALES and a ton of puffins! I LOVE being on a boat let alone getting to see my favorite animal ever: WHALES. We saw two pairs of mama/babies and two lone whales. All humpback, and so many beautiful moments. I ADORED the conservation/informational speech at the end of our tour. The puffin tour was awesome, and if you haven’t seen them I would suggest going but if you have- don’t spent the money. I don’t think the puffing tour should be as expensive as it is. No the less, no regrets and I am SO HAPPY to have had this day/experience.

Well organized tours. The guides are very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions which is what makes such an experience a good one. The see was rough but we got informed a day before and offered free pills against see sickness if we wanted. We ended up seeing a few whales which was great and also the puffins tour brings you really close to those interesting birds.

I can recommend this tour, the organisation was great, the guides were very friendly and we received a lot of information about the puffins and whales during the tours. People just need to be aware that there is never a guarantee to see any whales and it certainly won't be like in an animal documentary with whales jumping out of the water right in front of you. If you see nothing at all you can normally re-book the tour for free though. The puffins are much easier in that regard as they breed on an island and fly around there, so we saw loads of them up close. I can recommend both tours though!
