Full description

Come aboard a yacht and see the incredible wealth of marine wildlife that lives in the waters just off the shores of Reykjavík City. See some of Iceland's majestic whales, dolphins, and porpoises on this whale-watching tour.

Your ship sets sail from Reykjavík's Old Harbor and sails among the small islands in the Faxaflói Bay, as well as along the coast of Reykjavík, providing you with fantastic views of the city as you search for the wildlife in the water.

Spot minke and humpback whales, dolphins, and porpoises. If you're lucky, you may even see a few orcas (also known as killer whales) as well as a wealth of other species.

Make the most of three panoramic deck areas aboard the yacht, moving about the decks to get the best views and take advantage of great photo opportunities. The outside decks are also partially covered, providing some shelter from wind and rain.

The professional crew on board the Amelia Rose are very experienced in spotting whales and they are dedicated to making sure you leave with a smile. Combine relaxation with education as you enjoy a personal and memorable experience.

Amelia Rose is designed as an offshore vessel, making it better adapted to take on the turbulent waves of Iceland's waters, resulting in a smoother sail with less probability of passengers experiencing nausea or seasickness. There is no guarantee, however, that you will not get seasick.

Includes

  • Hotel pickup and drop-off (if option selected)

The tour was very well arranged. I would especially like to mention our guide (the young woman - can't remember her name) - she was answering all our questions and was very well informed about the marine lifeforms (whales and birds) and had small trivia all the time which made the tour interesting.

The yacht was very nice. Several bathrooms and lots of indoor seating. It w as a morning trip so I expected some pastries for purchase, but the only food they had was Lays potato chips or Doritos. They also had coffee and tea for purchase, as well as lots of alcohol. We did see a few parts of whales, two tails, but none breaching. The employees considered it a very successful outing. Also, we went at the end of April on a sunny day. It was soooooooo cold on the windy side of the boat. On the other side it was just so cold. We were prepared with hats, gloves, thermal underwear, neck gaiters, and boots with thermal socks. Most of the time it was difficult to hear the guide. All in all, we were out there for 3 hours. I am glad I went, but I hope to see more whales and other animals.

We saw 5-6 humpback whales! We were so lucky. The crew were all great..commentary was excellent. The yacht is lovely…very clean, 2 toilets, a bar with hot/cold drinks and snacks. It was really cold in the sea wind outside but we stayed in the lovely warm inside until we were advised whales could be seen and went outside to see them. The crew are experienced at locating them. Loved it and would definitely recommend. Thanks for a great and memorable trip!
